Our Hero, Kevin

Kevin was an inspirational young man who battled Neuroblastoma, a rare childhood cancer that afflicts less than 700 children annually for nearly 7 years. He was diagnosed with stage 4, high risk neuroblastoma at just 10 years old. During his journey he lived in and out of hospitals searching for a life saving treatment and was finally diagnosed refractory, non-responsive to traditional chemotherapies.

Kevin willingly gave himself to experimental treatments of all kinds. These groundbreaking treatments may not have been able to save Kevin’s life, yet because of him and heroic children like him, the research community has made monumental strides in perfecting these experimental treatments. This will save many lives in the future and will pave the way to ultimately finding a cure.

Young Kevin became an ardent advocate, sharing his story and speaking out in support of childhood cancer. He delivered his emotional message in front of thousands at a benefit for the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life, The Saint Baldrick’s Foundation, Hats off for Cancer and more.

Kevin was an amazing and accomplished public speaker. He was an honors student, an athlete, and a musician. His world was ever expanding, something quite unusual, and unbelievably admirable, for a kid who was fighting insurmountable odds from boyhood to adolescence. His story changed the lives of so many people, and his spirit lives on in the thousands of people that he touched.

Kevin Cordasco passed away March 11th, 2013. He never quit. Ever.
