Benefiting the Heroes
Your donations go to specific causes to help our hereos when you contribute to the Kevin Cordasco Foundation: Something Yellow.
The heroes of childhood cancer comprise everyone affected by or involved with this formidable challenge. These heroes span from the child that is fighting their battle, to the families fighting alongside them, to leading Oncology Units and the doctor’s and nurses that care for them, to creating an enviroment to make them feel at home, and to the research scientists helping to find the enormous breakthroughs that will potentially lead to a cure. This is what was near and dear to Kevin's heart and is what the Kevin Cordasco Foundation: Something Yellow continues to support.
Research Grants
We are very meticulous when it comes to the selection of our projects. We comprehensively vet applications to ensure our funding supports the most substantive and critical contributions to the field of childhood cancer research. Proposals are evaluated and rated by our scientific review board or nursing review board, and are approved by our board of directors. We look for projects that will play a part in bringing the latest and most promising lifesaving treatments to seriously ill children. Specific guidelines are provided for each type of grant. Funding of any project will be directly overseen by our Board of Directors.
Teen Drive
Our annual Teen Drive, benefitting the Children’s Hospital of Los Angeles’ and UCLA Mattel Children’s Hospital Teens was started by Kevin and “Kids for a Cure.” Kevin wanted to increase awareness for Childhood Cancer and help bring joy to kids suffering from cancers of all types.
There are between 60-150 teens each year who spend their holiday battling cancer and other life-threatening diseases. It was Kevin’s mission to have a gift for everyone and put a smile on their faces.
Camp Ronald McDonald for Good Times
The Kevin Cordasco Foundation: Something Yellow sponsored Camp Ronald McDonald for Good Times first ever Teen Advisory Committee Overnight (T.A.C.O) camping trip to Yosemite, April 20-April 22. The camp’s teen leaders will go for an outdoor adventure to the park to bond as a group and create programs to implement during the summer’s teen leadership program. The camp is hoping to inspire and challenge the teen leaders to become more responsible, self confident, and skillful in peer-leadership.
